I've long enjoyed Dee Henderson's Christian romantic suspense novels. Somehow I had missed The Witness but caught it a few weeks ago as a free Kindle read.
In typical Dee Henderson style, the hero of our story is in a "hero" job. Luke happens to be a policeman when he meets Amy, a woman on the run for the past five years. She's been hiding to protect herself from a New York City crime boss. Luke is determined to help her, but Amy is afraid to trust. Their paths will cross again three years later in a very unexpected turn of events.
Like the other Dee Henderson books I've read, I enjoyed the characters of Luke and Amy. They were believable and likable. I did find myself a little frustrated with this one. It seemed to drag on a bit, and there were quite a few intersecting story lines- almost enough to be a little distracting.
I definitely wouldn't say it was my favorite of Henderson's books, but I give it a strong four stars with a PG rating for somewhat graphic violence.
