I picked up this story as a free Kindle read and as of Sunday evening, it was still free.
I absolutely loved this read. It was a refreshingly good story after my last read (which you may recall that I had to finish because it was a review book). Set in the 1600s among the Puritans of England, this was a historical fiction novel from a time period I really hadn't read much from. The story about recently widowed Puritan preacher John Costin and his love for his new housekeeper ended up being a fictionalized version of the life of John Bunyan.
Even before I discovered the historical basis for the story, I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic characters and rich story line. The story was interesting enough to keep me up late last night reading and reading and moving enough to leave me sniffling back tears when I finished it tonight. I'll definitely be on the lookout from anything else by this author!

Thank you so much for the lovely review, Leah! I'm so glad the story kept you up late and left you sniffling! :-)

Leah, like you, I enjoyed Jody's story. I might be a wee bit biased, though, because I'm her critique partner. =)
Thought you might like to know that Jody's second book, The Doctor's Lady, was just released and has already garnered many rave reviews.
I've read her third book with a hunky logger and a spunky young heroine, another action-packed page-turner, which I think might be my favorite of Jody's stories yet. She's just been contracted for three more stories, so readers can look forward to many more hours of enjoyment immersed in her well-told tales.
Thank you so much for your comments ladies. I will definitely look for more of Jody's books. I loved this one!
