From the author of The Birth Order Book, one that I read and learned much from years ago, comes a new book about getting your family off of the activity wheel- It's Your Kid, Not a Gerbil.
I chose this one to review because, honestly, I enjoyed the cute, catchy title and because I really enjoyed The Birth Order Book when I read it years ago. I also realize that, despite our efforts to the contrary, we have recently increased our activity level quite a bit. I know some of that is to be expected as the kids grow, but it is something I always want to be conscious of for our family.
I was inspired and encouraged by much of what I read. There's lots of good, practical information here. Families who desire a change can get some good advice and encouragement. I did think much of the information was general parenting information; and, while it was good, it was not exactly what I was looking for in this book. I wasn't really looking for another parenting book; although I do agree with most of Dr. Leman's parenting advice. I sort of felt like that part was "preaching to the choir." I was really looking something a little different in this book. But, I would still strongly recommend it and endorse it as a good read.
I received a free copy of this book from Tyndale for review purposes. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
